Job Description:
POSITION SUMMARY:-- The Waste Approvals Manager implements waste
approvals processes and strategies that provide timely, compliant
and accurate waste approvals. The incumbent assesses compliance
with local, state and federal environmental regulations and acts as
an advisor to internal customers. The Waste Approvals Manager may
provide training to teams supporting the waste approvals
process.------------------------------------PRINCIPLE
RESPONSIBILITIES:--
- Coaches and develops a team of professionals to assist in their
development and attainment necessary skills to lift performance.
Monitor staff performance and--drive performance improvement
initiatives and ensures that service levels meet or exceed agreed
upon standards.
- Oversees the review and approval of waste profiles. Ensures
standard operating procedures, metrics to measure and enhance
performance, and waste approval processes are timely, compliant,
and accurate.------------------------------------------
- Leads and provides guidance on waste approval activities
related to the environmental permits, health and safety programs
and policies to ensure regulatory compliance.-- ------ --
- Participates in strategic planning to sustain and grow programs
and service.
- Monitors waste profile data management practices and ensures
appropriate records are
maintained.----------------------------------------------
- Assists and advises external and internal customers in
evaluating chemical analysis to determine if waste is acceptable
for management, and to resolve waste discrepancies.

- Ensures accurate and timely waste approval oversight by
reviewing submitted profiles. ------------------------
- Develops and mentors those involved in the customer approval
process.
- Participates in training and consultations that support program
goals.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.PREFERRED
QUALIFICATIONS:--
- Technical services skills to provide a broad range of hazardous
material management and disposal services including the collection,
packaging, recycling, treatment and disposal of hazardous and
non-hazardous waste. ------ ----------------------
- Knowledge of regulations specific to the waste industry; as
well as a working knowledge of general waste approval processes
within applicable regulatory and permit requirements.

- Knowledge of current waste treatment, storage, and disposal
operations.
- Working knowledge of EPA/TCEQ/MDEQ/DOT/TSCA (PCB)
regulations.
- Ability to interface professionally with customers and vendors,
and work within a team environment.
- Essential competencies to perform this job include analytical,
organizational and problem-solving skills; must be detail oriented
and possess technical aptitude.
- Ability to work under pressure, exercise independent judgment
and select effective course of action while controlling resources
and expenditures. ------------
- Knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint applications is
essential.------------------CERTIFICATIONS:
- Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) certificate or
equivalent - Preferred.----------------------
- McCoy's RCRA training preferred. - Preferred.MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS:--
- 2 years' experience in waste approval and a subject matter
expert regarding waste regulations and practices.Rewarding
